Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet vulnerable characters, is one of the most acclaimed American actors of today. Her father was a celebrated writer, however she was raised as a single child by her single-mother, a nurse. In the summer when she was with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for theater. Linney eventually pursued acting initially through Brown University then at Juilliard School. Following her graduation at Brown University, she began her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. Within two years of this, her first feature film hit the market, and following year, her debut on television. Since then, she has appeared involved in numerous films, television plays and stage productions. She's been nominated for three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), as well as received numerous awards over her career. While she has received numerous awards over the years, theater was always her primary love.
